Chapter 58 Rescuing the Little Lion
Chapter 58 Rescuing the Little Lion
Chapter Fifty-Eight: Rescuing the Little Lion
The baboon was sitting on a branch of a big tree, hugging Mao Mao, completely unaware that two lions had noticed it. One of the lion cubs had already climbed up the tree.
However, this female baboon was also very perceptive; after all, Chu Ye's climbing of the tree was quite noisy. The female baboon spotted Chu Ye very quickly.
"ah!--"
As soon as the female baboon saw Chu Ye, she let out a loud cry and rushed to the top of the tree. After all, this female baboon had already experienced Chu Ye's power, and she didn't dare to fight him again.
The female baboon climbed straight to the top of the tree, feeling as if this little lion was about to become the hero. But it couldn't catch this adult female baboon.
And so, the same old drama began to unfold again. The female baboon, still holding Mao Mao, was once again playing cat and mouse with Chu Ye atop the tree.
This female baboon was driven out of her troop and unable to rejoin, so she was forced to live alone. This large tree is her shelter, where she usually lives. She only comes down to the ground to find food when she's hungry.
When the baboon comes down from the tree to look for food, it places its fur on a branch of a large tree. The fur is too afraid to come down from the tree. Therefore, the female baboon can safely go down to the ground to look for food.
These past few days, this female baboon has been taking care of Mao Mao while also keeping an eye out for predators. It's fair to say that this female baboon and Mao Mao are quite lucky, because baboons are in great danger when they are alone.
It's important to know that cheetahs and leopards frequently hunt baboons. These two big cats are excellent climbers, often scaling trees to ambush baboons.
If a cheetah or leopard had spotted this female baboon in the past few days, it would certainly have attacked her. Fortunately, no cheetah or leopard has found the lone female baboon.
This allowed the female baboon and Mao Mao to live a relatively peaceful life. But now, their peaceful life has been disrupted by Chu Ye.
Chu Ye has now brought Lisa to this big tree. He and Lisa are going to rescue Mao Mao together.
Lisa watched as Chu Ye climbed the tree, and then lay in ambush below. Lisa understood Chu Ye's intention; she waited for the female baboon to come down from the tree.
Sure enough, after dealing with Chu Ye for a while, the female baboon realized that if she didn't quickly run down the tree, she might be caught by Chu Ye again.
So the female baboon quickly climbed down from the tree. She felt that once she was back on the ground, Chu Ye wouldn't be able to do anything to her.
This female baboon was trying to repeat her old trick and slip away right under Chu Ye's nose!
But just as the baboon jumped down from the tree, a lioness sprang out from the nearby bushes.
This lioness was, of course, Lisa. Seeing that the time was right, Lisa suddenly sprang out from the bushes.
Lisa was hiding in the bushes, only four or five meters away from the large tree. This distance is the optimal hunting distance for an adult lion. Within this range, any prey smaller than a lion, or about the same size, will be caught and become its prey.
This female baboon was no exception; Lisa pounced on her immediately. Caught completely off guard, the female baboon had no chance to escape and was caught in an instant by Lisa.
But after Lisa caught the female baboon, she instinctively released the lion cub she was holding. At that moment, Mao Mao broke free from the baboon's embrace and ran away into the distance.
Mao Mao didn't seem to recognize Lisa, unaware that Lisa was its real mother. It was probably frightened by Lisa's large size and instinctively ran towards the distant bushes.
Just then, the baboon leader, Lucky, noticed the commotion. He also saw a lion cub running towards their baboon troop.
Momo was completely bewildered; it had no idea that Lisa had come to rescue it. It even thought that Lisa was there to prey on it and the female baboon.
So when the female baboon was caught by the lioness, Mao Mao was terrified and ran back to the baboon troop. It had been living with this troop for days. Although the female baboon had been driven out of the troop by the leader, Mao Mao felt they were still family.
When Lachi saw a lion cub running towards their pride, he wanted to seize the opportunity to catch it.
This sudden turn of events was completely unexpected for Lisa. And for Chu Ye as well. When he saw Lisa leap out of the bushes and immediately bite the female baboon, he felt the battle was about to end, and his plan to kill two birds with one stone would soon be complete.
But the sudden change left Lisa and Chu Ye somewhat bewildered.
Lisa had already spotted the female baboon. But Momo suddenly ran away, heading towards the baboon troop.
Meanwhile, the baboon leader, Lucky, had already noticed Momo. If Lisa didn't hurry and rescue Momo, he might very well be caught by Lucky.
Faced with this difficult choice, Lisa had no choice but to release the female baboon first, as she needed to hurry and rescue Momo. Otherwise, Momo would be in great danger. Once the baboon leader, Lachi, caught Momo, Momo's chances of survival would be slim.
Lisa had no choice but to release the female baboon she had already caught, and she quickly went after Momo.
Momo was terrified and ran straight towards the baboon leader.
Lucky, the baboon leader, originally intended to catch Momo. However, when he saw Lisa running towards her, he quickly led his tribe away.
Regardless, baboons are still very afraid of lions. It's safe to say that one lion couldn't defeat dozens of baboons.
But Lucky thought that if one lioness appeared, there must be other lionesses as well. This is because when lionesses hunt, they often let the other lions lie in ambush. Then one lion chases the prey, and when the prey enters their ambush zone, the other lions will leap out from the bushes.
Lachish was very experienced in combat, and he concluded that the lioness in front of him was not fighting alone, but must have accomplices lurking nearby.
So Lucky quickly led the other baboons to some large trees not far away. When they reached the trees, they climbed up together.
The female baboon that Lisa had caught thought she was going to die there today, and that Lisa was definitely going to kill her.
But to its surprise, it was destined to survive. After being caught by Lisa, the lion cub didn't recognize her and instead ran towards their baboon troop, giving the female baboon a chance to escape.
After Lisa let the female baboon go, the baboon quickly ran away.
Lisa had already run to Momo's side and immediately grabbed her.
However, Mao Mao was very scared, and it screamed after Lisa bit its neck.
"Aww! —"
Momo was terrified, feeling that the lion was going to eat it. After all, it had become accustomed to being with the baboons. It no longer felt like a lion, not a baboon. It felt like a baboon, not a lion.
Lisa was overjoyed after catching Momo. After all, she recognized Momo at a glance. She was also a mother and missed Momo. However, she felt that Momo must have been killed by wild dogs, which was why she had forgotten about Momo again.
But only a week had passed, how could Lisa completely forget Momo? She was very excited when she recognized Momo.
Now the mother and cub are finally reunited. Lisa carried the fur in her mouth and ran back to her pride.
Chu Ye, perched atop a large tree, watched Lisa run away, and a sense of pride welled up within him.
"Hmph, I've done another service for this pride. But it seems my service is all for naught; I haven't received any praise from the lion king or the lionesses."
Seeing that Mao Mao was saved, Chu Ye felt a little disappointed. After all, Lisa had just run back with Mao Mao in her mouth, completely forgetting about Chu Ye.
After Chu Ye saw Lisa go back, he also climbed down from the big tree and ran back to the lion pride.
When Chu Ye returned, Lisa and Mao Mao had already arrived under the big tree.
When the other lion cubs saw Mao Mao, they all looked surprised. They seemed not to recognize him at all, and even howled at him.
Even Elsa forgot about Mao Mao; she looked at Mao Mao and barked a few times. It was as if she sensed that Mao Mao was a cub from another pride. Lisa had found a stray cub outside.
Lisa paused for a moment, slowly sniffing the scent on Mao Mao's body, before she recognized him.
When Lisa recognized Momo, she stuck out her tongue and licked Momo's body, showing a loving expression.
In fact, for the lionesses of a pride, all the cubs in the pride are their children. The lionesses in a pride can nurse all the cubs in the pride, without distinguishing whether they are their own cubs or someone else's.
All the lion cubs in the pride are the cubs of all the lionesses. And all the lionesses are the mothers of all the lion cubs.
Of course, this isn't absolute. Lionesses can still distinguish which cubs are their own and which aren't.
Lionesses tend to care more about their own cubs than cubs that are not their own.
