Chapter 111 Project Establishment
Chapter 111 Project Establishment
For office workers, Friday is a day to look forward to. Just the thought of being able to rest for two days after a busy day and do things they enjoy makes them feel happy and relaxed.
Wei Hongsi didn't initially feel much about this. Because he had always been relatively idle, his workdays felt like he was slacking off, and he had to find something to do on his own, otherwise he always felt he was letting down the salary the company paid him.
But in the last twenty days or so, I've suddenly become too busy. Not only have I been working overtime frequently, but I haven't had a break for three consecutive weekends, so I can't help but empathize with my colleagues.
Shortly after arriving at the company in the morning, Wei Hongsi received a meeting notification.
—Conference Theme: Report on Research Directions for Treatment of Mental Pollution (Psychological Viruses)
—Presented by: Wei Hongsi
—Attendees: Dai Songquan, Ji Yongsheng, Gu Shiming, Qian Jiayu, Jiang Kai, Lin Fangzhe, Yu Sheng, Fang Wei
——Time & Location: 10:00 AM on the same day, Conference Room 2206
Upon seeing the list of attendees, Wei Hongsi was somewhat surprised.
Although only eight people listened to his report, they basically covered all the current senior executives or soon-to-be senior executives of the company.
Although Ji Yongsheng is not in charge of any business line, as the company's vice president and the executive head of the emergency response team, it is his duty to listen to reports.
However, the presence of Jiang Kai, General Manager of the Application Promotion Center, and Lin Fangzhe, General Manager of the Financial Settlement Center, at the meeting may indicate that the company's management team will soon make a decision after the briefing.
The management team's attitude seems self-evident.
Among the attendees, Gu Shiming, Qian Jiayu, Yu Sheng, and Fang Wei had all discussed the project proposal with Wei Hongsi.
Although it is unknown whether Gu Shiming showed the revised draft to the other three, their attitude was very clear.
From a business perspective, Jiang Kai and Lin Fangzhe had no reason to object.
However, these two may not be fully aware of the situation, and it is necessary to provide a full explanation from the perspective of their responsibilities.
With this in mind, Wei Hongsi opened the PowerPoint presentation he was preparing for the report, made some modifications, and added a few more pages.
After everything was ready, and it was almost time, Wei Hongsi went to the 22nd floor.
2206 is a relatively small meeting room; the last meeting to finalize the standards was held here.
Wei Hongsi arrived a little early, but when he entered the meeting room, all eight people who were supposed to listen to his report were present. He almost thought he had misread the time.
"Hongsi is here." Dai Songquan said with a smile as soon as he saw him come in.
"Hello, Mr. Dai," Wei Hongsi replied, then greeted Ji Yongsheng.
Just as they were about to greet Gu Shiming in turn, Gu Shiming said, "You should get ready first."
Dai Songquan said, "We just finished a meeting and have taken a break. Once you're ready, we'll begin. There's no need to be on time."
Wei Hongsi agreed and distributed the electronic version of the project proposal to everyone on the main computer in the conference room, and then projected the PPT onto the big screen.
When Wei Hongsi stood in front of the big screen, everyone adjusted their posture and prepared to listen.
Wei Hongsi started his introduction from the beginning, assuming that Dai Songquan, Ji Yongsheng, and others knew nothing about the project.
However, his report was not long-winded. He introduced the key points listed on each slide of the PPT and combined them with the GG case of the amusement park he encountered. His presentation was very well organized.
He spoke at a moderate pace, observing the audience's reactions as he spoke to determine which points needed further elaboration. In reality, only three or four people required special attention, allowing him to keep abreast of everyone's needs.
It took Wei Hongsi about an hour to complete his report.
Dai Songquan led the applause, then said, "Let's all share our opinions."
Qian Jiayu said, "We discussed Hongsi's proposal the day before yesterday, and I support it. However, when we discussed it that day, the 'Emotional Reconstruction Method' wasn't as comprehensive as it is now. How did you come up with the idea of adding music as a dimension?"
Wei Hongsi said, "I suddenly thought of it the night before last when I was helping a friend look at her musical works."
Qian Jiayu nodded and said, "Your new ideas are truly endless."
He turned to Dai Songquan and said, "President Dai, I believe that if Hongsi is in charge of this project, we should be able to achieve results sooner than the timeline outlined in the project plan."
Dai Songquan smiled and nodded.
Subsequently, Yu Sheng and Fang Wei also briefly expressed their opinions, which were similar to those of Qian Jiayu.
Next, Jiang Kai and Lin Fangzhe shared their perspectives from the angles of their respective responsibilities.
Although Jiang Kai wasn't skilled in technical research and development, he understood the implications of a project targeting national security needs. Even if the method couldn't be commercialized, the boost to the company's brand influence was priceless.
He didn't offer any specific opinions, but rather some suggestions from a market perspective, as a reference for the transformation and extension of the results.
Lin Fangzhe explained it more simply. The economics of this project falls under the category of decision-making and cannot be measured by book profits and losses. He did offer some suggestions, but this kind of work definitely needs to be done at the company level, not the project team, so he couldn't say much more.
In the end, Gu Shiming and Ji Yongsheng expressed their support, but said nothing else.
After listening to everyone's presentation, Dai Songquan said, "I have no reason not to support projects that benefit the company, especially those with long-term benefits. But I need to reconsider how to implement them."
Wei Hongsi was taken aback. Did President Dai mean to put it on hold for a while?
But then Dai Songquan said, "However, the research work for the project should begin as soon as possible. Hongsi, you need to quickly establish the framework of the project team."
"Okay," Wei Hongsi replied, though he was a little confused.
However, he quickly realized that what General Manager Dai said was not contradictory. The project was definitely going to start as soon as possible; what needed to be weighed were other aspects or details.
After the meeting, everyone came out to the elevator to go downstairs, but Ji Yongsheng and Gu Shiming were missing.
When they reached the 16th floor, Yu Sheng and Wei Hongsi got out of the elevator together and called him into the office.
As soon as he sat down, Yu Sheng said, "If you want to set up a project team, you can't be without suitable people under you. I think you should start by picking some people from the Second Department."
"Thank you, Director Yu." Wei Hongsi had considered this approach before and immediately expressed his gratitude, thinking that Director Yu had some suitable candidate in mind.
But Yu Sheng said, "I can't recommend people directly to you, because even if I see them, they might not be accurate. But I can give you a shortlist based on your hiring requirements."
"Oh, okay." Wei Hongsi nodded, thinking that was a good idea.
Yu Sheng smiled and said, "You can try it out for a while under the guise of a temporary transfer. If it's not suitable, you can be transferred. It's very convenient within the department."
