Chapter 83 Solution
Chapter 83 Solution
There was movement downstairs. It was more than one person; the footsteps were light but frequent.
Natasha heard it too, and her face turned pale instantly.
Wang Zhengyang made a gesture: at least six people are surrounding the building.
He quickly considered his options. A direct confrontation was unwise—the enemy outnumbered them and might be heavily armed. It was daytime, and he didn't want to expose himself before the train was fully modified. Should he jump out the window? The second floor was too high; Natasha might get hurt.
That leaves only one option.
"Come with me," Wang Zhengyang said in a low voice, pulling Natasha to the other end of the room. There was a ventilation duct there, the fence of which had rusted and fallen off.
"Climb in," Wang Zhengyang said. "This pipe leads to the back of the building. I'll cover you from behind."
Natasha didn't hesitate and immediately crawled inside. Wang Zhengyang followed closely behind. Before entering the pipe, he used his telekinesis to roll up the blanket and cover the pipe opening, creating a simple disguise.
The pipe was narrow, barely wide enough for one person to crawl through. It was filled with dust and cobwebs, but there was no time to worry about that now.
They had only climbed a few meters in when they heard footsteps downstairs—someone was coming up.
"Check every corner!" a gruff voice commanded in German. "The boss said, we need to see them alive or dead!"
He's a member of the Iron Hand gang.
Wang Zhengyang and Natasha held their breath and remained motionless in the dark pipe.
The search of the room upstairs lasted about five minutes. You could hear things being rummaged through, cans being kicked open, and impatient curses.
"Damn it, nobody's here!" one of his men reported.
"But there are signs of use! The blanket is still warm; the person had just left!"
"Split up and chase them! They can't have gone far!"
The footsteps faded into the distance as the Iron Hand gang members came downstairs.
Wang Zhengyang waited a few minutes to make sure it was completely quiet outside before signaling Natasha to continue climbing. The pipe was about fifteen meters long, ending at a vertical ventilation shaft, the bottom of which connected to the drainage ditch at the back of the building.
The two climbed out of the pipe and jumped into the drainage ditch. It was overgrown with weeds, secluded, and temporarily safe.
"What do we do now?" Natasha asked softly, her face and hands covered in dust, looking rather disheveled.
"According to the original plan, we should leave here first," Wang Zhengyang said. "But we can't take the main road anymore; the Iron Hand Gang is searching the area."
He surveyed the surrounding terrain. Behind the hydrological station was a wasteland overgrown with waist-high weeds. At the edge of the wasteland was the wall of the dock area, beyond which lay an abandoned railway branch line.
"Go that way," Wang Zhengyang pointed in the direction of the railway branch line. "Climb over the wall, follow the railway, and you can circle back to the subway station."
Natasha nodded, but her legs were trembling—the tension and crawling had taken a toll on her strength.
Wang Zhengyang noticed this. He reached out his hand: "Hold my hand, it'll save your energy."
Natasha hesitated for a moment, but still took his hand. His hand was steady and warm, giving her a strange sense of security.
The two men moved through the tall grass, keeping their bodies as low as possible. In the distance, they could hear Iron Hand gang members shouting and the sound of car engines. Clearly, the search area was being expanded.
It took them twenty minutes to reach the wall. The wall was three meters high with barbed wire at the top, but that wasn't a problem for Wang Zhengyang. He climbed over first, then helped Natasha climb over as well.
Just as Natasha jumped off the wall, a shout suddenly came from afar: "Over there! There are people over there at the wall!"
Was discovered.
Wang Zhengyang immediately pulled Natasha and they started running. The abandoned railway branch line was piled with rusty rails and sleepers, making running difficult, but it was better than being easily targeted in the weeds.
Gunshots rang out from behind.
"Bang! Bang!"
Bullets struck the nearby railway tracks, sending sparks flying. The Iron Hand gang had caught up and were firing without hesitation.
Wang Zhengyang glanced back—six men, all carrying pistols or shotguns, were scaling the wall. They were about a hundred meters away.
At this distance, the accuracy of a pistol is limited, but the spread of a shotgun is much wider.
He had to make a choice: keep running or fight back.
If she continues running, Natasha's stamina won't last long. If she counterattacks... she might expose more of her abilities.
But just then, a shotgun shell hit the sleeper next to Natasha, and shrapnel grazed her calf.
"Ah!" Natasha cried out in pain, staggered, and almost fell.
Wang Zhengyang immediately helped her up and saw that her left calf had been cut by shrapnel, and blood was gushing out.
"Can you still walk?" he asked.
Natasha nodded through gritted teeth, but her face had turned pale.
Wang Zhengyang glanced at the pursuers; they had closed the distance to eighty meters. He no longer hesitated.
Witnesses must not be allowed to remain. Especially those who have seen supernatural abilities.
"Get behind that wrecked car," he said, pointing to an overturned freight car not far away. "I'll take care of them."
"You're all alone..." Natasha tried to say something, but Wang Zhengyang had already pushed her to the back of the carriage.
Then, Wang Zhengyang turned around to face the six Iron Hand Gang members who had come chasing after him.
He stood there, without drawing his gun, just standing there calmly.
The pursuers were stunned for a moment when they saw this, but they didn't stop. They spread out and surrounded the pursuers in a fan shape.
"Kid, you've got guts!" The leader was a bald, burly man with a scar on his face. "Hand over that girl, and I might let you die a quick death."
Wang Zhengyang did not answer. He simply raised his left hand, fingers spread, palm down.
The next second, three pistols appeared out of thin air in front of him, hovering in mid-air, their muzzles pointed at the six pursuers.
Everyone was stunned.
What was that? Magic? An illusion?
But reality quickly shattered their illusions.
"Puff puff puff puff puff puff puff puff!"
Nine gunshots rang out almost in a single line. Each gun fired three bullets simultaneously.
Before the six Iron Hand members could react, they were struck precisely in vital areas. Between the eyebrows, heart, throat—each bullet was fatal. Their bodies stiffened for a moment, then they collapsed almost simultaneously, blood gushing from their wounds and pooling into dark red puddles on the sleepers.
The whole process took less than two seconds.
Wang Zhengyang didn't stop. He stepped forward and checked everyone's vital signs, confirming that they were all dead. Then he began to clean up the scene—using his telekinesis to drag the bodies to the tall grass beside the railway, covering the bloodstains with withered grass and pebbles. Finally, he collected everyone's weapons and threw them into a drainage culvert not far away.
After dealing with all this, he returned to the back of the carriage. Natasha was sitting against the carriage wall, pressing her hand against the wound on her leg, but the blood was still flowing. She had heard gunshots, but hadn't dared to look over.
"They..." Natasha's voice trembled slightly.
"It's done," Wang Zhengyang said briefly, taking a first-aid kit from his backpack. Inside were styptic powder and bandages. He quickly treated Natasha's wound and bandaged it.
"Can you walk?" he asked.
Natasha nodded, but her eyes were somewhat dazed. The scene she had just witnessed—nine gunshots rang out almost simultaneously, followed by deathly silence—had had a profound impact on her.
Wang Zhengyang helped her to her feet. She didn't ask any more questions, but silently followed him along the railway branch line.
Her gaze would occasionally fall on Wang Zhengyang's profile, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions—reverence, gratitude, and an indescribable dependence.
This man saved her once again.
In a way she couldn't understand at all.
