Chapter 327 Food and Sex
Chapter 327 Food and Sex
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin looked up at the sun on the horizon.
At this time of day, there's still some time before sunset, but the sunlight isn't too harsh, nor is it as red as the sunset; it's unusually gentle.
Bathed in the gentle sunlight, Gavin grinned, pointed towards the confluence of the two rivers in the distance, and laughed.
"Later, we'll drive to the confluence of the two rivers, so the guys can take a shower before the sun sets."
"These two rivers originate from the Guadalupe Mountains, their source being the foundation of a Little Ice Age. After being baked by the sun, the water temperature here is just right—neither too hot nor too cold!"
"I still remember when I was about twelve years old, I came here with my parents and rented horses from a local farm. We took the horses to bathe in this beautiful water."
"Steve, do you remember those days? If I remember correctly, you came with us!"
"Haha, of course, boss, how could I forget? We even peeked at some women's asses downstream, haha!" Steve shouted back at Gavin with a loud laugh as soon as Gavin finished speaking.
His words drew even more laughter from the men.
Hearing the laughter of his men, Gavin nodded slightly, took out a cigarette, lit it, and said.
"The confluence of these two rivers should have been a tourist attraction, but the area around Mount Guadalupe and Mount Guadalupe has always had a relatively poor economy, so there are few tourists. Although it has the foundation of a natural scenic area, the tourism industry has never really taken off."
"However, a poor environment also has its advantages. Such a beautiful forest and river, but there isn't even a hotel nearby where people can stay. In fact, within a radius of 15 kilometers of this small forest, you can hardly find a single house."
"Don't forget the TV series Breaking Bad, haha, those daredevils who make drugs in their RVs, they love to make drugs in these deserted places, unless you're incredibly unlucky, you might not see a single car pass by for days on end."
"As for now, even if we wanted to kill a few zombies around here for some fun, there isn't even a zombie spawn point around here!" "Although the temperature difference between day and night in the neighboring area is quite large, we have tents, as well as a campervan and a truck for support."
"Although the wind was a bit strong in the Gobi Desert, our tents were very sturdy, all top-of-the-line items that even middle-class families might not be able to afford before the apocalypse."
"In short, we should have a better rest today than yesterday, as long as we don't get attacked by coyotes in the nearby forest or rattlesnakes in the Gobi Desert."
"My two crows can provide early warning, so we don't need to set up too many sentries tonight. Just leave one person on each shift to keep things going. Everyone get a good night's sleep and prepare for tomorrow's tough battle!"
At this point, Gavin raised his hand and tapped the map in his pocket.
Upon hearing the word "tough battle," Edward and the others' expressions turned slightly serious.
Gavin continued speaking, meeting the solemn gazes of the captains and vice-captains.
"On the map, the straight-line distance between us and the Brotherhood is only about 240 kilometers!"
"Although the straight-line distance of 240 kilometers still requires a few detours, barring any unforeseen circumstances, given the vast and sparsely populated environment of New Mexico, we should be able to reach the vicinity of the fraternity by 1 or 2 pm tomorrow at the latest."
"I will not make any combat preparations before we arrive. All combat plans will be made after we have thoroughly observed the surrounding environment of the Brotherhood and figured out the composition of the biker gang's personnel and equipment."
"Until we figure those things out, we can't even send out a reconnaissance team or a spy. We're basically fighting a war like blind men."
"But even though we're blind, they're blind too. Almost all of us survivors are fucking blind."
"Furthermore, unless the biker gang successfully captures members of the Brotherhood alive, they probably won't know we're here until we touch their faces."
Gavin paused deliberately at this point.
As he paused, Edward, holding his gun, chuckled and spoke.
"Boss, the biker gang probably already knows about our news. After all, when we spoke with Connor of the Brotherhood this morning, he mentioned that one of his water-fetching squads hadn't returned."
"Unless that water-fetching team is dead, or Connor never told his men the good news about our support for their Brotherhood in the first place."
"Otherwise, the biker gang would already be on guard against us. In fact, I suspect that it might be because the biker gang got information from the Brotherhood's water-fetching team that we were about to arrive that they were hesitant to act."
"Of course, these are just guesses, but we must be careful, boss."
"If possible, we should locate the biker gang as quickly as possible, and then use the armored vehicles to our advantage to storm them out and wipe them out in one fell swoop!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Edward licked his lips.
The air in the Gobi Desert was so dry that after just a short discussion about the action plan, his lips started to feel parched. Gavin felt the same way, so he nodded and continued speaking.
"That makes sense. Let's make a final decision when we arrive tomorrow. Let's go rest by the river first."
"Although these two rivers are much shallower, they still bring a lot of moisture."
"This damn West is so hot and dry. Let's go wash our faces in the river and take a nice bath. Hopefully, Adriana and Diana have brought suitable swimsuits."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin waved his hand, signaling the captains to leave.
Then the men returned to their vehicles and soon left the dirt road, traversing the Gobi Desert and moving more than 700 meters northeast to set up camp near the confluence of two rivers.
Without needing to say more, the guys started setting up their tents with excitement as soon as they saw the river.
Even though the guys were in a good mood, in reality, very few of them knew how to pitch a tent. So much so that seven or eight people, including Edward, Eugene, Martin, and Steve, who were very good at pitching tents, had to help the others after they had pitched their own tents.
It's not that the guys aren't professional enough; it's just that the apocalypse is still short-lived, and no matter how much training they receive, they're not yet at the level of setting up tents.
Moreover, while the United States has a very popular camping culture, tent camping is actually more of a pastime for middle-class families and the homeless. After all, it's already difficult for low-income families to avoid becoming homeless, and most low-income people have to work two or more jobs, spending their days shuttling between different jobs.
They're lucky if they don't go bankrupt and become homeless; they don't have time for anything like tent camping.
Inside the camp, the largest group of people were precisely those from the lower-income backgrounds who lived before the apocalypse.
For example, Adriana's life before the apocalypse consisted of turning herself into a must-do attraction in Fairfield to make money. How could she have time to go camping all over the world?
In short, setting up the tents took longer than expected. By the time the last tent was up, Gavin was already wearing beach shorts and had gone for a swim in the river.
This was truly a wonderful experience, as Gavin hadn't bathed in a river in a long time; the last time was a short dip during the astronaut rescue. As for the river at Gavin's camp…
Well, all those rivers originate from Lake Richard, and there are thousands, if not more, of zombies floating in Lake Richard. Gavin only occasionally goes fishing by the river, which is already a rare treat. Where did he get the courage to take a shower in water teeming with zombies visible to the naked eye?
Even if out of sight, out of mind, at least we have to be able to see it!
Gavin lay happily by the river, immersing himself completely in the water. He found a dead tree trunk to use as a pillow, and leisurely rested for a while, holding a cigarette between his wet hands.
The guys who had finished setting up the tent finally arrived at Gavin's side.
Adriana, Diana, Tara, and Judan, who was practicing rock climbing, rushed to Gavin's side, along with Wang Ling, who looked slightly shy.
Whoosh!
Adriana's feet landed directly next to Gavin's waist, stepping into the warm water.
It was a little past 5:20 PM. The afternoon sun, which was between 2 and 4 PM, had just raised the temperature of the river water. Although it wasn't quite like a hot spring, the warm yet cool sensation was so comfortable that it made one's scalp tingle.
As Adriana sat down, she stretched out her long legs, letting her toes rub against Gavin's waist and then slide down his side.
Just as Adriana was about to sit down and straighten her legs, Gavin left a cigarette in his mouth, reached out and grabbed Adriana's ankle, making her bend her left leg and sit in the water.
Feeling her ankle being grabbed, Adriana grinned, resting her elbow on Gavin's partially exposed chest muscles and saying, "What are you doing, boss? Do you like feet? Well, coincidentally, I do too~"
"Shut the fuck up, Anna, your toes are caught on my pants, you piece of shit!"
Gavin grumbled irritably, then loosened Adriana's toes from her waistband and released her leg. Adriana then turned to lean against Gavin, waving to the other women on the riverbank.
"Hey, what are you waiting for, you little bitches? Do you want the boss to take his pants off and carry you down?"
"Don't say such stupid things, Adriana!"
In response to Adriana's joke, Wang Ling responded with a sound of agreement, then moved a few meters away from Gavin and tentatively stepped her foot into the water. There was no such thing as a "crystal clear jade foot"; not everything can be made of jade.
Although women working in the field have it a little easier than men, they actually receive a lot of training. Even for an Asian woman like Wang Ling, whose skin is better than that of European and American women, only the insteps of her feet can still be considered tender.
As for the soles and heels...
Tsk tsk, guys, don't be so smug. It's already pretty good that your soles and heels aren't chapped. As for thick skin and calluses, those are inevitable. Seeing the women go into the water, the men immediately surrounded them. In the blink of an eye, the men were all sprawled out in the river, leaving only Madison with three men on the riverbank preparing dinner.
At first, the women all crowded around Gavin.
However, Gavin was too lazy to indulge in any of that decadent lifestyle; he was eating too well. So, as they chatted, Diana and Adriana started encouraging him to flirt with other men.
Among the group, Edward and Steve were the most popular. Both of them were men of the best, with good looks and great physiques. So one of them was groped by Adriana, while the other and Diana simply left the river and went into the tent to have some fun.
As soon as Steve and Diana entered the tent, noises began to emanate from it, and Gavin couldn't help but burst out laughing.
The guys laughed at this, and casually made a bet on Steve, betting on the duration of their encounter and Diana's volume. As for Adriana, she actually wanted to have some fun with Edward, but Edward was, after all, a man with a girlfriend. After chatting for a while, Adriana, having had her fill of groping, retreated back to Eugene's side, joining the others in telling off-color Native American jokes. Besides, Corbin Bonnet was also quite popular. The last surviving member of the Bonnet family, he inherited some of the family's bloodline and had the air of a cowboy straight out of a movie.
So Corbyn also became Judan's favorite. The two only chatted for a few words before they were soaking in the water, hugging each other and kissing nonstop about fifteen or sixteen meters away from Gavin.
As for Tara, well, Aunt Tara's favorite is actually Madison.
After all, the two of them were the most loyal fitness enthusiasts in the camp.
This "zhongyi" wasn't about liking each other, it was purely about having similar interests. As they practiced together, they almost became like brothers.
However, Madison wasn't in the water, so Tara simply pulled the fierce-looking Jonathan under her armpits like a bear. Jonathan readily obliged; although he was less than 1.75 meters tall, compared to Tara, he was like a small horse driving a large cart.
But Jonathan is a real man, a cowboy among cowboys, and he drives a big truck!
In short, watching his buddies quickly get into the swing of things, Gavin chuckled, a cigar dangling from his lips, as he lay in the water, enjoying the feel of the river. Although these American rascals seemed rather dissolute.
But... who can expect these unruly people to live like saints in the apocalypse?
What a joke! It's already a miracle they're not killing each other; the fact that they can now embrace and pour out their hearts to each other is the best-case scenario imaginable! Gavin even hopes that each of them will get married quickly and have a ton of kids to continue the future of humanity.
How could he possibly reprimand these men and women who would become so easily agitated?
But just as Gavin was lying there resting with a slight smile on his face...
The river to his left suddenly stirred.
Gavin, as usual, closed his eyes, sipped his cigar, and was lost in thought when he felt a slightly cool little body press against his waist.
Gavin knew who it was; it was none other than our female swordswoman, Wang Ling.
Gavin was genuinely surprised, since he had no idea that Wang Ling had feelings for him before this trip.
In Gavin's eyes, he almost assumed that Wang Ling would have something happen with Li Qing, who was also of Chinese descent, but now it seems that the two of them haven't sparked anything at all.
Not only was Li Qing getting closer to Nancy, the blonde Barbie doll with asthma, but Wang Ling was also starting to move closer to him. After a brief moment of thought, Gavin subtly shifted his position, moving a few centimeters away from Wang Ling.
His actions undoubtedly made Wang Ling freeze for a moment; at that moment, Wang Ling didn't even have the energy to listen to Barn's jokes anymore.
However, after a brief period of stunned silence...
The river to Gavin's left stirred slightly again.
Wang Ling's supple waist eventually pressed against Gavin's left ribcage.
Seeing this, Gavin finally turned to look at Wang Ling.
Wang Ling lay motionless on the wooden stake with her eyes closed, pretending nothing had happened. She crossed her arms over her chest, which was covered by a blue tank top. Seeing Wang Ling's self-deceptive act, Gavin stared at her for a few seconds, noticing the trembling eyelashes on her closed eyes. After watching for a while, Gavin sighed, then lowered his head back onto the stake, letting Wang Ling's hips rise and fall against his ribcage. The brief friction made Gavin notice a small layer of goosebumps on Wang Ling's skin. Who knew how nervous this little girl was? But Gavin didn't say anything, nor did he take it any further.
He noticed that Wang Ling had her own rhythm, haha~
After chatting happily in the water for more than twenty minutes, the group finally finished.
Steve and Diana finally crawled out of the tent.
Steve looked like he was sweating a little, while Diana casually fixed her hair, chuckled, and went back downstream to wash herself in the water.
Upon seeing this, the guys burst into cheers and teasing, which made Steve chuckle and mutter a curse to them under his breath.
After the bickering continued for another ten minutes or so, Gavin was the first to leave the water, and the others followed him back to shore one by one, each wearing what looked like swimsuits, to prepare for the evening's barbecue.
Wang Ling was the last to climb out of the water. When she emerged from the water, her face was not only flushed and shocking, but she was also a little unsteady on her feet.
Seeing Wang Ling trembling, Adriana went over and grabbed Wang Ling's arm, leading her back to the tent while teasing her with a smirk.
"Hey, what's going on, my little Asian girl? You didn't sneak off into the water, did you? What part of you did the boss touch, up or down?"
"Shut up, Ade, I...I'm getting a cramp, I'm a little nervous, the cramp...it's really bad! Ouch!"
Wang Ling slapped Adriana in an annoyed tone, then tried her best to straighten her cramped right leg.
Upon seeing this, Adriana was slightly taken aback, then burst into laughter without any restraint.
After she had finished laughing, Adriana leaned close to Wang Ling's ear and whispered something.
"Hahaha, how nervous are you? I've been watching you guys for a while now. The boss is actually a decent man. At least he didn't eat you up in front of so many people without any politeness, letting everyone know that he did something to betray Nikita."
"But the boss is completely clean and still, why are you so nervous? You two haven't even hugged yet!" "This won't do, Ling. If you're too nervous, you and the boss might become inseparable once you actually get together. You know what I mean, right? Hahahaha!"
"Get out!"
Wang Ling immediately gritted her teeth and cursed at Adriana.
