Chapter 253 Johnny's Departure
Chapter 253 Johnny's Departure
Time flies, and three days later, at 2:07 AM.
In the general's camp in a small county surrounding Athens, near Atlanta.
Anglu staggered out of bed, quietly lifting the covers to pull his slightly healed injured leg out of the blankets. He then silently put on his socks, enduring the pain in his calf.
Beside him, a soft little paw grasped his wrist.
"shop……"
In that instant, Anglu froze, and all the muscles in his body tensed up.
And on his bed, inside the uncovered blankets.
Lilith, who was holding Anglu's wrist, was now propping herself up on her side, looking at Anglu expressionlessly.
The room was dark, but Lilith's eyes were bright, and Anglu immediately saw the moon and himself reflected in her eyes.
And those eyes, as beautiful and despairing as moonlight... devoid of any spirit.
Faced with such a gaze, Anglu swallowed hard, then resolutely reached out to loosen Lilith's grip on his hand.
Lilith waited silently for Anglu to grab her hand. She didn't cry out, scream, or sob; she just remained silent. But the more silent she was, the less strength Anglu had in his hand to be rough with Lilith.
Then, Anglu placed his left hand on the back of Lilith's hand, their hands quietly overlapping for a long time. Throughout this process, Anglu never dared to look Lilith in the eye.
Feeling the warmth from the back of her hand and the thin layer of sweat that quickly appeared, Lilith smiled instead. She gently released Anglu's wrist, then grabbed Anglu's hand that was resting on the back of hers.
As she interlaced her fingers with Anglu's, Lilith spoke in a very soft voice.
"What kind of fool would think a woman wouldn't be woken up by her lover getting up?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Lilith struggled slightly and shook off Anglu's hand.
She sat up completely, cross-legged casually, and continued speaking to Anglu.
"Don't take yourself too seriously, boy. You're not my first man, and you certainly won't be my last. Do you think I'd cry my eyes out over your decision to leave?"
"What an idiot! Since you can't let go of your obsession with leaving, do you think I'll still pretend to be a loving couple with you?"
"Get lost, boy. Since you're so sure there's something more important in your life than me, why stay for me? I don't even know if you're reluctant to let me go, or if it's out of pity or regret."
"I don't like your attitude, just like I've never liked you. Let's go, go back to your mom who's been out of touch with you. Don't let me underestimate you, my boy."
At this point, Lilith stretched out her right leg and kicked Ryangra's butt with her foot.
Anglu gave Lilith a deep look.
Despite the dim and secluded room, Lilith could see clearly into Anglu's eyes.
That was genuine reluctance and worry.
Faced with that look, Lilith paused for a moment, then gently patted Anglu's back and smiled.
"If you could change your mind, you should have done so long ago; and if you can't change your mind, then you need to hurry up."
"Considering you've worked hard these past few days, and despite your injury you've taken good care of me, I wish you... a safe journey, my big boy."
"You want to go to Boston? Good heavens, that's way too far. So forget about me. We'll never see each other again, kid." With that, Lilith yawned lazily, then lay back down on the bed and leisurely pulled the covers over herself.
Anglu sat silently by the bed for a while, then silently continued to put on his clothes.
His leg injury made it difficult for him to put on his pants, and the act of putting them on took him a long time, causing Lilith to roll over involuntarily. Nevertheless, Anglu managed to arm himself properly, even wrapping the soles of his boots with a soft cloth to prevent too much noise.
At this point, Anglu picked up his gun and backpack, staggered to the side of the bed, and took one last look at Lilith.
Looking at Lilith's eyes, which she no longer wanted to open to him, Anglu took a deep breath, then turned and left with a cold expression.
But just as he was about to leave through the door...
"Please give my regards to your mother, Anglu?"
Such a voice suddenly came from behind Anglu.
Upon hearing this voice, Anglu paused heavily, then responded without turning his head.
"I will, and I wish you peace and happiness in the future, Lilith."
At this point, Anglu stepped out of the wooden door, went to the sofa in the living room, and sat down to wait.
While he waited, the faint sound of rapid breathing coming from his father Johnny's room made Angru take a deep breath in annoyance. He really didn't like the feeling of his dad openly cheating on his mother in front of him!
The breathing sounds continued for another seven or eight minutes, then stopped completely, followed by the faint sound of conversation.
Six minutes later, Johnny's door was pushed open.
Upon seeing his son sitting in the hall, Johnny paused slightly, and Eugenie behind him couldn't help but be taken aback as well.
Johnny felt a little embarrassed, after all, he had just done something wrong to his lover, and his son had caught him red-handed! But just as Johnny was about to say something...
Eugenie quickly composed herself and then whispered to Anglu from behind Johnny.
"Anglu, don't blame Johnny, okay? It wasn't his fault."
"You should know, your dad is really handsome, and the way a man makes up his mind to face countless risks just to find his loved ones is so cool, it's like something out of a movie, and I can't help but be captivated by it."
"Moreover, like most of the girls in the camp, I am a girl studying at an art college."
"That place taught us a lot, but what we learned most was how to use our charm to seduce a man, didn't we?"
"It proved my expertise, didn't it?"
At this point, Eugenie smiled, then returned to her room and gently closed the door.
Looking at the closed door, Johnny turned around awkwardly, lowered his head, and said to Anglu.
"I'm...sorry."
"No need to apologize, I won't tell my mother. It's not you who's wrong, it's the world."
Anglu shrugged, then stood up and staggered toward the door.
Johnny quickly came to Anglu's side, put his arm around Anglu's shoulder, and led him away from the house where they had stayed for nearly ten days. As he helped him up, Johnny whispered to Anglu.
"We can't take the main road. Two new families have moved in recently, and they live near our house."
"We crossed the road, went straight through the cemetery into the forest, and hid a Toyota Land Cruiser on the edge of the forest two kilometers away, with the fuel and food I had collected over the past few days inside."
"If all goes well, that fuel should get us across 2,500 miles, enough for us to take detours and avoid all sorts of zombies." "The food in the truck should last us at least a week."
At this point, Johnny grinned and quickened his pace in helping Anglu.
Anglu, reluctant to leave, took one last look at his house, then gritted his teeth and whispered to Johnny.
"Dad, what Eugenie and the others said is true, right? They're best at seducing men like us, aren't they?" "Heh heh, you don't understand yet, but you'll get it eventually, kid."
Faced with Anglu's question, Johnny pursed his lips sadly, then led Anglu into the cemetery.
But just as the two reached the center of the cemetery...
Suddenly, they heard a strange sound.
rustling...
铲!
rustling...
铲!
Johnny's scalp tingled instantly; that was clearly the sound of shoveling dirt!
And... the sound of shoveling soil could be heard nearby!
Just as Johnny was getting a chill down his spine and was about to take his son in a different direction, a flippant voice suddenly came from afar.
"Hey, look what I see, my good buddies, are you here to help me dig?"
At this point, the sound of shoveling soil stopped.
Johnny's scalp nearly exploded.
Because the owner of that voice is Wesker!
At this moment, Johnny would rather find out that it was the General himself, because although he was more wary of the General, Wesker's temper was far more fiery than the General's. In other words, if he encountered the General, Johnny felt that he would still have a reason to explain and persuade the General to let them leave!
But Wesker...
Johnny swallowed hard.
But just as Johnny's Adam's apple bobbed up and down, another voice suddenly rang out from afar.
The voice spoke gently to Wesker.
"Wesker, stop scaring them. And you guys, Johnny and Angle, if it's not too urgent, come help us out." "Damn it..."
At this moment, Johnny was extremely depressed.
Because this new voice belongs to the general himself!
But... why did they both appear at the same time in the night? What the hell!
Aren't the two of them subtly at odds?
Could it be that, in order to bury themselves, the two top figures in the camp, who had disagreements, actually joined forces?
Filled with confusion, Johnny, along with Anglu, resignedly headed towards the direction of the sound.
Meanwhile, in the distance, under the cover of night.
The sound of a lighter accompanied a cluster of flames.
As the smoke rose gently, the general gave a gentle instruction.
"Smoke less, Derek."
"Hmm, don't spoil my fun, teacher. And I'm Wesker, tsk tsk, Wesker from Resident Evil, haha~" Wesker teased the general with a smile, then looked at Johnny and his son approaching them from afar.
Listening to the interaction between the two, Johnny and his son felt a chill run down their spines.
What the heck is a teacher?
Who is Derek?!
Seemingly noticing Johnny and Anglu's surprised expressions, Wesker approached them, shovel in hand and cigarette dangling from his lips.
Under Johnny's extremely wary gaze, he shoveled the shovel directly into Johnny's arms.
"Don't just stand there like an idiot, help me out. I don't like digging, I especially hate it!"
Wesker's words made Johnny nervously grip his shovel, as if he were assessing whether he could knock Wesker to the ground with a single blow! However, when Johnny saw the pistol in the general's hand, he immediately abandoned the idea with regret.
What he regretted was...
The general was holding the gun that Gavin had given to Johnny!
That gun was a gift from Gavin!
Across from him, Wesker seemed to have seen through Johnny's plan, so he chuckled and took a step back, then waved to Johnny.
"Don't even think about hitting me with that thing, you idiot. Go dig a hole, and while you're at it, guess what this hole is for!"
"Bullshit!"
Upon hearing this, Anglu suddenly drew his weapon and growled at Wesker.
"You actually made my dad dig our own grave!"
"Wow, Wesker, don't scare them!"
The general suddenly interrupted Anglu and Wesker's interaction and then spoke to Anglu.
"And you, Angru, keep your voice down. I guess none of us like being discovered by the rest of the camp!" As soon as he finished speaking, the general emerged from the shadows, approaching Johnny with Gavin's pistol in hand.
Johnny frowned as he looked at the large pit in front of him. It looked like a grave. Why would the general and Wesker secretly dig up someone's grave in the middle of the night?
Noticing the confusion in Johnny's eyes, the general shrugged and smiled at Johnny.
"Don't just stand by and watch, Johnny. Now that you're here, help us out. I still have a lot of things to bury."
"Although our camp supplies are distributed, the quality of our men varies greatly. As for my female students, I have no idea if any of their amazing ideas might suddenly pop into their heads and ruin the entire camp."
"Women who are good at seducing men have a huge influence on them. I dare not say that I can control them. Therefore, I always like to leave myself and the right person a little way out in a place that only I know."
"Don't overthink it. This pit isn't for burying you. I buried some weapons, bullets, and grenades in it, all sealed in boxes. Of course, I also buried some canned goods with a long shelf life and drinking water."
"Moreover, every now and then, I have to add a few more similar... graves filled with supplies. These inexplicably extra graves will make my men feel mysterious and wary of me, and will also give me more options to deal with unknown changes."
"Of course, this trick might not actually be very effective; I'm just trying to reassure myself more."
At this point, the general pointed to the shallow pit on the ground and then threw the pistol in his hand far away to Johnny.
Johnny quickly caught the pistol and suspiciously checked the bullets; it was fully loaded!
So he asked the general, puzzled.
"You actually gave it back to me?"
"Of course, this gun is important to you, isn't it? Because I've noticed the look in your eyes when you look at this gun more than once—a look full of helplessness and regret!"
The general explained with a light laugh.
"Could you tell me the story behind this gun? It looks expensive. Was it a gift from your lover?"
"No, no, no, of course not. It's just... Your Excellency, this gun was a gift from Gavin, the Gavin you always hear about on the radio!"
Johnny quickly explained to Johnny, while the general and Wesker were both stunned upon hearing this.
The next moment, they both burst into suppressed laughter, and Wesker chuckled as he spoke to the stunned Johnny.
"What a small world! The teacher and I have actually met Gavin before. I didn't expect you to be the same."
"What?! You guys also fled to Atlanta from near Dallas?!"
At this moment, Johnny was truly surprised. He blankly picked up the shovel, scooped up a shovelful of dirt, and threw it aside.
And Wesker.
Hearing Johnny's question, he gently shook his head and smiled.
"Stop joking. We don't have the ability to cross such a long distance at the beginning of the apocalypse, avoid all kinds of zombies whose habits were not yet known, and walk such a long distance in the apocalypse."
"My teacher and I met Gavin before the apocalypse. Don't laugh at me, but before the apocalypse, I was actually the owner of a modeling studio, or rather, I was the former top male model who transformed into my own modeling studio."
"As for our job, it's to provide a lot of important people with the mutual needs between the sexes, and incidentally become an indispensable part of all kinds of parties. You know what I mean, right?"
"About two years ago, our studio had the honor of attending the legendary cowboy Gavin's championship party. Because of this, I quickly contacted my resource provider, who is also my teacher, and together we thought about how to make our studio famous in the industry."
"You're right. Every high-end service center absolutely needs a process for bringing in top talent, and my former teacher, this senior professor in the Atlanta arts field, was the mentor for me and my buddies."
"In short, we had the privilege of meeting Gavin that time."
"He's an extremely cautious guy. To get into his parties, we even need to provide at least three full medical reports from within three consecutive weeks."
"However, apart from that, Gavin is very generous with money, offering fees that are so high they make your scalp tingle, and his reputation in the industry is so good that every woman is excited to the point of bursting."
"Anyway, haha, what a coincidence! You've met Gavin before, and so have we, and he's still the same reassuring person he always was, haha~"
Amidst light laughter, Wesker tossed aside his extinguished cigarette, picked up the general's shovel, and got to work with Johnny.
Looking at Wesker, who was shoveling dirt alongside him, Johnny pursed his lips in surprise, then asked in a low voice.
"But... if you and the general have known each other for a long time, then... how come you two are like this now..."
"Why is it like this, isn't it?"
Upon hearing this, Wesker grinned and explained to Johnny in a low voice.
"Otherwise, what do you want me to do? Admit in the apocalypse that I used to be a stripper?"
"And I also brought a large group of women who had also danced striptease, dressing themselves up as whores and male models that anyone could sleep with in the apocalypse, right? "What's more, don't forget, I also studied acting, and I acted quite well, didn't I? I even convinced a group of equally ruthless guys that I was even more ruthless than them."
At this point, Wesker chuckled and then patted Johnny on the shoulder.
"Alright, stop asking so many unnecessary questions. Help me finish the last bit of work, and I'll take you two to the car you hid."
"These past few days, I've almost worked myself to death trying to keep my men from discovering what you've hidden. You guys are so careless, while I seem to have seen too much of the world's darkness, so I'm always cautious!"
"etc!"
Just as Wesker got to this point, Johnny suddenly couldn't help but ask a question.
"But why did you do this? I thought you...you..."
"Huh? Why? To keep you two incredibly efficient guys in the camp, constantly brewing up your resentment towards us, until you two decide to pull off a complete rout?"
Wesker chuckled.
"Stop joking! We're not stupid, and we're not a cult!"
"You fear us, and we fear each and every one of you. No one can rest easy; this is the truth of the end times!"
