Chapter 214 The Battle is in Full Swing
On the helicopter, Gavin's expression didn't change as he listened to Thomas's voice; instead, he immediately looked at the other people in the helicopter.
In his eyes, Nikita and Diana couldn't help but feel nervous, while the 6666 ranch members who had followed them onto the plane immediately began looking around, observing his and the other guys' condition.
Meeting their terrified and worried gazes, Gavin grinned and said softly.
"Haha, I didn't expect you guys to get to see such a big show so soon after joining!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin picked up the walkie-talkie and said with a smile into it.
"Thomas, there's no need to be so protective of the roof. I brought back three Black Hawk helicopters; our firepower can handle a mere few thousand zombies."
"People are more important than anything else. Remember, once it is certain that the roof will fall, then make every effort to retreat safely back to the manor. Our manor can withstand the vast majority of risks, without a doubt."
"Apart from that, the yachts on the lake are fine. I saw them circling around in the lake, playing with the zombies that couldn't move freely in the water."
"Don't rush, I'll be back at the manor in about five minutes. We'll talk about everything when I get back."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin smiled and put down the walkie-talkie, then raised his hand and patted old lady Anne on the shoulder.
Grandma Anne was tilting her head back, pursing her lips, and looking at Gavin with surprise and suspicion.
She wasn't sure if Gavin's calm and relaxed demeanor was feigned, but she was almost certain that Gavin's hideout had been attacked by zombies.
Therefore, at this moment, Annie carefully observed every detail on Gavin's face in order to make her next decision!
As for what decision it was?
You should know that if Annie were to launch a rallying cry at this point, she could very well lead the 6666 Ranch crew in a mutiny, and then take control of the helicopters to get them away from the zombie-infested Gavin Ranch!
And that's exactly what Gavin needs to guard against!
Gavin put one hand on Mrs. Anne's shoulder and said to her with a smile.
"Annie, do you remember what I said before? I said that the more of us there are, the greater the power we can unleash when faced with unexpected events!"
"Words alone cannot prove this, but God has given me the opportunity to do so. Now, I will show you the power that numbers can unleash!"
"But before that, tell me, if your 6666 Ranch were besieged by thousands of zombies right in the warehouse where you used to live, what would you do, and what could you possibly do?"
Gavin immediately distracted the old lady, forcing her to shift her focus from thinking about what to do next to thinking about what she would do in her own situation.
Faced with Gavin's question, old lady Anne frowned. She didn't want to talk about such things at this crucial moment that seemed to determine her fate, but Gavin's question wasn't so easy to refuse.
After a brief moment of thought, she spoke into her earpiece.
"If we were surrounded by thousands of zombies in the warehouse district, we would probably have no choice but to hide in the basement, wait for the zombies to lower their guard, and then look for another opportunity!"
"Ha, that's perfectly correct. When we encounter zombies while lacking strength, we should avoid direct confrontation and discuss things later. But clearly, Annie, compared to you, I'm much stronger!"
Gavin smiled and picked up where Annie left off, then patted Annie on the shoulder and said calmly and confidently.
"Therefore, I won't avoid them; I'll only choose to confront them directly and eliminate them when I have no choice but to face them!"
"Obviously, my guys all have the same style as me, and I think you guys will soon have the same style too. We'll get along very well!"
"When bullets form a barrage, when more than thirty guns move together, causing our targets to fall in layers within the barrage, we have the confidence to confront them head-on. This is the right and advantage bestowed upon us by technology and civilization!"
"Now, just watch our performance!"
At this point, Gavin raised his hand and tapped his headset, then laughed.
"Sean, Edward, Steve, report the ammunition levels. Rockets ready!"
"Eugene, Martin, get in over there with the machine gun, we're going to give those zombies a big one!"
"You all heard it. These shameless hypocrites brazenly attacked our camp. Our families, friends, and children are there. The bad news is we have absolutely no reason to back down, but the good news is we never lack reasons to fire!"
"So, prepare for a massacre, let the zombies see the power of modern technology, haha~"
"No problem, boss!"
As soon as Gavin finished speaking, the voices of the crowd, some excited and some hateful, came through the earpiece, and then Sean's voice followed.
"Boss, this is Sean. Our plane has a payload capacity of eight Hellfire missiles, thirty-two rockets, and three thousand rounds of machine gun ammunition, with about fifteen hundred rounds in each cannon. Just use them, boss. I'll clear the firing range for you during the time you're using the rockets!"
"Roger that, Edward and Steve, continue your reports!"
Gavin tapped his headset, and Edward continued.
"Boss, my plane has six Hellfire missiles, twenty-eight rockets, and eight thousand rounds of machine gun ammunition. Eugene, you bastard, do you even know how to use the onboard machine gun?"
"Of course, the only requirement for this fucking machine gun is learning how to disengage the safety. Guess if I have the brains for that?"
Eugene responded with a loud curse, then set up the door machine gun, shook the muzzle at Gavin's plane, and waved the gun up and down as if greeting Gavin.
Gavin, seeing the gun pointed at him, felt a throbbing in his temple, and immediately cursed into his earpiece.
"Mazefak, Eugene, if you dare point your machine gun at me again, I'll fucking blow your guts out with your sniper rifle!"
"Oh, okay, boss, it's my fault~"
Eugene responded mischievously, then lowered the machine gun muzzle.
After he apologized for his joke, Steve remained silent for a long time on the last helicopter before finally speaking up.
"Boss, I don't know how much ammunition my plane has, and I don't know how to use rockets!"
"Your plane is a special type, just like mine, and we have about the same amount of ammunition. I specifically replenished it!"
Sean answered for Steve.
Upon hearing this, Gavin understood that two of the three planes were armed with machine guns.
So he spoke up to Steve without hesitation.
"Steve, if you don't know how to use rockets, don't use them. I'd rather lose the rocket firepower of an entire plane than have you operate them haphazardly, than have us die at the hands of our own people."
"Besides that, Martin, can you operate a machine gun?"
Gavin asked Martin, who quickly replied.
"I'm trying, boss, but it should be fine. Adriana's fine too!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Martin stood in his cockpit, holding the machine gun, and looked at Adriana.
Adriana excitedly patted the large machine gun and smiled as she spoke to Gavin.
"That's right, boss, I can use this too, so if I kill enough zombies, can you sleep with me?"
"I'll sleep with your Mazefak's bitch!"
Gavin immediately cursed, and Adriana, after a slight pause, responded in a loud voice.
"Aha, that's right, I am a bitch, Boss Fuckmi~"
"Ha ha ha ha!"
"Fuck~"
"Aha, Adriana!"
"pretty!"
"Boss, why don't you just fuck her? Trust me, I've tried it for you, she has a really amazing figure!"
Amid Adriana's screams, a burst of laughter rang out in the headset. This laughter, seemingly unconcerned about the zombies, finally put the guys at 6666 Ranch at ease.
Otto stepped over Mrs. Anne's wheelchair, picked up his shotgun, strode up behind Gavin, and, holding the fixed object, spoke to Gavin.
"Gavin, I can help!"
"Yes, if you can, feel free to fire. But whatever you do, if there are still people on the roof, please don't accidentally shoot them!"
Gavin patted Otto on the shoulder as a reminder, and Otto nodded emphatically.
Meanwhile, on several other planes, Corbyn and Jonathan made similar decisions.
Let them kill Gavin's team and control the pilots to order them to land at another location?
Stop joking, at least Corbyn doesn't have that kind of courage.
So their only option was to fight Gavin to the end and believe that what Gavin said was true.
As for Gavin, after confirming that all three helicopters were ready for battle, he picked up the walkie-talkie and spoke.
"Guys, this is Gavin. I've crossed Lake Richard and will be at the estate in two minutes at most."
"Field crew on Lake Richard, you can approach the shore now to prepare for evacuation. Helicopters will provide escort!"
"Of course, once you arrive near the manor, don't approach it yet. Wait until things have settled down!"
Soon after Gavin finished speaking, a voice came from the walkie-talkie.
"Roger that, boss. This is Hogan. Barn, Tara, and I are on the yacht."
"Thank God, although we encountered a bit of a setback, they clearly can't defeat us!"
"Huh?"
Hearing Father Hogan's simple prayer, Gavin chuckled and replied over the walkie-talkie.
"Hokhan, you should thank our nuclear-proof manor for being so fortified, thank our ample ammunition, and thank our sheer numbers. And numbers are power, buddy!"
Gavin gave a loud reminder, then took control of the machine gun and glanced coldly toward the manor.
And behind Gavin—
"Whoa!"
Holy crap!
"Mazefak!"
Curses and gasps of surprise rang out involuntarily, because the crew on the plane could vaguely see the horde of zombies charging toward the northwest corner of the enormous manor in the setting sun!
Gavin also saw the scene clearly and unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
As he observed, although the number of zombies was large, they failed to completely surround the manor.
Thinking about it, it makes sense. Gavin Estate covers an area that is nearly the size of nine football fields, and a single football field can actually hold two to three thousand people.
Just like high school students in Dongguo doing their morning exercises, thousands of young people from all three grades are crammed together, and a single playground could probably fit them all.
Now, the density of zombies is much denser than that of children doing aerobics; they not only have almost no spacing between them, but are even approaching negative distance!
Gavin picked up his binoculars and carefully examined the manor.
He could clearly see that the zombie group was concentrated on two terraces in the northwest corner of the manor.
The roof of the manor had actually been partially breached, but more than twenty of the manor's workers were still standing in the central area of the roof, struggling to suppress and block the zombies from getting closer.
Each floor of Gavin Manor is taller than a normal building. Although it only has three floors, the height from the roof to the ground is nearly thirteen meters. At this height, it took a lot of manpower to stack the zombies up, and not many people climbed onto the roof. Surprisingly, the guys actually managed to create a safe zone on the roof!
At the same time, Thomas's eyes lit up as he watched the three helicopters rapidly approaching.
"The boss is back! Haha, they're back!"
"That's right, damn it, expand the defensive perimeter! Shotguns, follow me forward, suppress the zombies at closer range, and ensure the boss lands safely!"
Old Feng picked up where Thomas left off, then switched his rifle for a shotgun and strode slowly toward the area closer to the zombie onslaught, following the defensive crowd.
Behind him, Nicholas and Paul immediately switched to their guns and followed, while Baron and four or five others also followed with shotguns.
As I said before, shotguns are incredibly lethal at close to medium range. When campers, who generally only use buckshot, face zombies, the overlapping net of shotgun fire is far too much for a few dozen zombies to break through!
Bang bang bang!
In an instant, the barrage of fire from seven or eight shotguns actually extended the safe zone forward by nearly thirty meters.
This distance was also enough for Gavin's helicopter to safely drop off the passengers!
Gavin now faces a fundamental choice: whether or not to let the passengers off the plane first.
Gavin thought for only a moment before quickly picking up the walkie-talkie and speaking.
"Aha, I see you! You fought brilliantly! Even without the help of plants, the zombies obviously couldn't reach our brains. You did a fantastic job on the rooftop, even without flowerpots!"
"Haha, boss, stop with the Plants vs. Zombies jokes. Let's cherish our gains and get the guys home quickly. They'll be safe once they're home!"
Thomas laughed and urged Gavin on, who immediately picked up the walkie-talkie and replied.
"That's right, we'll be transferring personnel shortly. Everyone except the pilots and helicopter machine gunners, make the most of the safe window of opportunity and get back inside the manor as quickly as possible. Those on the rooftops, be ready to provide backup!"
"After the personnel have been evacuated, those on the rooftop should return indoors and go to the other terraces on each floor to lure and kill the zombies until they are completely dead!"
"Mazefak, how could you ruin my beautiful house like this!"
"Just thinking about how we're going to clean this house gives me the creeps. It's all the zombies' fault, kill them!"
"The boss is right, let's take them out?"
"To hell with it, we have way too much work to do, that's thousands of corpses, they've gone mad!"
"Utterly insane!!!"
"Go kill their ancestors!"
"#!"
"Aaaaaah!!!"
Accompanied by the constant curses coming from the walkie-talkie, the firepower on the roof intensified.
Unfortunately, Gavin's house didn't have many tracer rounds, so apart from the muzzle flash, there weren't many bullet effects to see, which slightly reduced the excitement.
But that was enough, because Gavin clearly saw that the guys from 6666 Ranch on the plane were no longer so afraid!
When they first saw the horde of zombies attacking the manor, the terror in their eyes was indelible, but now they were clear-headed, they were infected, and they rallied!
Even Otto excitedly hugged the spittoon in his arms and couldn't help but mutter a word.
"Is this your fucking camp?!"
"Haha, this is our fucking camp! Let's go, guys! Zombies don't deserve to be our enemies, they don't!"
Eugene shouted back to Otto from the helicopter opposite, then pointed his gun at the ground and started firing at the zombies from nearly a thousand meters away!
He didn't need to aim carefully at all. After all, zombies don't use any tactical maneuvers when they're moving. He just needed to aim at the crowd and frantically pull the trigger.
The range of a heavy machine gun is no less than that of a sniper rifle; this thing really shoots incredibly far. Eugene's firing immediately created a trail of blood on the north side of the zombie horde.
Even from a distance, Gavin could see many zombies being torn in half by heavy machine gun bullets, and he had already aimed his machine gun at the approaching horde of zombies!
Thump thump thump thump!!
Gavin opened fire on the machine gun, and the machine gun's fire pounded into the horde of zombies.
Each machine gun shot that landed caused far more than just the tearing apart of zombies; the zombies in the area hit by the machine gun simply exploded!
The reason why machine guns are called machine guns is because these large-caliber, high-powered machines do indeed possess a certain degree of artillery suppressive capability.
In an instant, the addition of three helicopters caused some of the troops to lose their direction and rush towards the helicopters.
As the helicopter traveled from afar to the rooftop, machine guns and cannons roared incessantly, unleashing a devastating victory that delighted the 6666 ranch crew.
Swarms of zombies exploded like watermelons, the blood causing those with low tolerance to vomit, while the braver ones got their blood pumping.
The sounds of machine guns and cannons only subsided after the helicopters flew over the rooftops and appeared above the crowd.
Gavin didn't want to challenge the defenses of his manor with machine guns, so he ordered them to cease fire. Only Eugene's machine guns continued to fire in short bursts, harvesting the zombies charging towards them from the rooftops.
As Gavin's three helicopters approached, they aimed primarily at the piles of corpses created by the zombies.
As they approached, the once neatly piled-up corpses were almost broken in half, so much so that it took a lot of effort for the zombies to reassemble them.
And so, when the plane finally landed, the zombies on the rooftops temporarily stopped flowing.
This made it easier for Lao Feng and his men to suppress the enemy.
Gavin promptly put down the machine gun, grabbed Mrs. Anne's wheelchair, and was the first to jump off the helicopter.
As he handed the old woman over to Hela, who was carrying a rifle, Gavin strode toward the arrowhead formation of shotgunners.
"Nicholas, Paul, get on the helicopter and take over the machine gun, quick!"
He yelled as he assigned manpower, while Nicholas and Paul quickly stepped back, rushing against the flow of people towards the helicopter to take over the machine gun that Gavin had just been using.
